Habitat Management Division
Based out of Clarkfield, MN, our Habitat Management Division handles large acreage restoration of both private and public lands throughout Western and Southern Minnesota. Following our Light on the Land ethic, the Habitat Management Division specializes in the conservation and management of native habitat, particularly native prairie. Our management plans seek to recover soil health, improve biodiversity, and rebuild healthy, resilient ecosystems.
Whether you manage public lands or private acres, we will work with you and for you to design and implement a management plan that accomplishes your project goals. Our experienced technicians are skilled in a variety of safe, best management practices. We also have experience with a diverse range of equipment, allowing us to rise to the challenge of any type of project.
Our Habitat Management Division excels at prairie restoration and prescribed fire, but offers many other habitat services. So don’t hesitate to contact us about your project needs--it’s highly likely we have the capacity to accomplish them.
Large Acreage Restoration
Large acres of land provide excellent habitat value when managed properly. Though land-use changes have altered the landscape, proper habitat management can help landscapes recover to healthy, resilient standards. Plus, many game and non-game wildlife species such as deer, waterfowl, and upland birds benefit tremendously from habitat restoration. Key insects such as pollinators also rely on native habitat to prosper. We can help you design and implement a management plan to meet the needs of your land-use goal.
Conservation Reserve Program
Everyone has a responsibility to conserve natural resources, but we don’t have to do so alone. This is why we love our Conservation Reserve Program partners! Your land is important, and we can help you manage it to conserve its natural beauty and resources. With dozens of CRP partners, we have the experience and skills necessary to get the job done. Whether you need native seeding, prescribed burning, forestry mowing, or vegetation treatment, let us be your partner in habitat management.
Prescribed Fire
Prescribed burning is a key aspect of native habitat management. With wildfire suppression, woods and prairies that historically evolved to rely on fire have lost one of their most important natural disturbances. By bringing this disturbance back to these ecosystems, we can prompt native plant health and biodiversity, as well as inhibit aggressive and invasive species growth. Large acre habitat restorations often involve prescribed burning, and we are prepared for the challenge. Our burn crews are skilled, experienced, and equipped with all the gear necessary to complete each burn effectively and safely. This burn season, let our advanced fire crews help you undertake this important management practice.
