Slope Repair

We completed an extensive, detailed slope repair project for a city in the south metro. The project included regrading, laying riprap, gabion wall installation, seeding, and more.

Prairie Bluffs Conservation Area Restoration

At Prairie Bluffs Conservation Area, our crews removed aggressive and invasive species, and we seeded native prairie plants. We also installed erosion control measures and conducted a detailed prescribed burn.

Oak-Savanna Restoration

Oak-savannas are ecosystems that have a scattered oak-dominated canopy interspersed with prairie grasses and wildflowers. They used to be extremely common throughout the central part of Minnesota. However, between wildlife suppression, urban development, and agriculture conversion, these unique ecosystems have almost disappeared. This project took us to a wildlife management area in the southern metro where oak-savanna habitat used to exist, but has become overgrown with other trees and invasive species. Our operators and felling hand crew worked together to clear invasive species and nuisance trees to reintroduce oak-savanna conditions across 46 acres.

WEst Suburbs Buckthorn Removal

Buckthorn is common on many residential properties across the Twin Cities. At this residence, we worked with a private homeowner to remove approximately 2 acres of buckthorn from a private woodlot and conservation easement. Our crews also installed a native forest seed mix in the area to encourage the growth of native understory. We will continue monitoring the area for invasive species as the natives establish. This is a great example of restoring urban pockets of native habitat.

Sw Metro Prairie Vegetation Management

Our crews have completed over 4 years of prairie management at a nature reserve in the SW metro. This adaptive management plan includes treating invasive species, seeding native species, prescribed burning, and more.

Vegetation Plot Inventory

We surveyed over 300 vegetation plots across Minnesota. At each plot, we took inventory of critical tree and understory data. This unique project took us across a variety of habitats, from tamarack bogs to hardwood forests to wetland fens.

Eden Prairie Community Basin

We are partnering with an HOA and the City of Eden Prairie to establish a native plant community within a drainage basin of the new HOA development. Our crews prepped and seeded the basin with a custom drainage basin native seed mix. We then planned a large scale planting of the more visible quarter of the basin, and assisted HOA community members with the planting of the native species. Our crews will continue to conduct follow-up management as the native community establishes. We’re excited to see what the next years of growth look like!

St Paul native garden

Not all of our projects involve dozens of acres of natural land. For this project, we planting a native garden for a St. Paul homeowner who wanted a more environmentally friendly yard. Our crews removed the existing vegetation, mulched the beds, and planted native, pollinator friendly species. Each species was selected for the various light availability across the property, and the homeowners personal preferences.
